Top Tile Trends for 2018
Happy New Year everyone! We thought we’d kick off the New Year with our Top Tile Trend predictions for 2018.. Enjoy!
1. Mixing Materials
There are lots of fabulous material themed tiles available – concrete effect, wood effect, marble effect, limestone effect and in 2018 it’s all about mixing and matching these for a super modern look. Featured below is our stone-effect Portraits range with a wood effect tile like our Komi range.
After appearing on homes styling shows like Ideal Home Show and Grand Design Live, Rugging is set to take off in 2018. A block of patterned tiles is surrounded by plainer tiles, to create an ‘area’ or ‘zone’ within an open plan living space, as shown in our Docks Concrete range below. A very cool and practical alternative to the traditional rug!
3. Patterned Encaustic Tiles
Encaustic Tiles are hugely popular right now and are set to remain so in 2018. Click here for all the beautiful patterns and colours we stock and remember you can choose one tile or a mixture! Encaustic Tiles are on the more expensive side so don’t be afraid to look at encaustic-effect or other patterned tiles if your budget is on the slightly tighter side, like our mixdeco and bentonepoque ranges for example.
4. Think BIG
Think BIG in 2018 with more and more tiles becoming available in HUGE sizes. A few of our favourites include our 120cm super long wood-effect Komi range; our Bookmatch Marble tiles in 120x240cm and 150x300cm, and our Backstage Concrete tiles in 75x150cm. Remember the larger the tile the bigger the room looks!
5. Seamless Indoor to Outdoor Living
If in 2018 you are planning to decorate inside and landscape your garden then this trend could be just for you! Run the same tiles inside your home out into your garden to blur the lines between inside and out and encourage better use of your outdoor living space. Get ready now for a spring and summer of relaxing in the fresh air and lots of alfresco dining!
We hope this is useful inspiration for your 2018 tiling projects and please feel free to come and discuss any ideas you may have with us at our Kingston or Barnes Showrooms. Our highly-experienced team are here to give you expert advice, on both practical and design queries.
